Freedom in Your Own Healthcare

healthcare freedom herbal consult

Yesterday was Independence Day and I served my country for 12 years in the Army Reserves. My husband served in the Marine Reserves and the Navy. We are grateful for our independence! We were glad to be a part in serving this country to support others independence!

However, we seem to be losing our freedom in our own healthcare. I’m so thankful that I can take care of my family for most of our health problems.  I love the fact that I can make my own medicine and take care of my family from things grown in my backyard! I don’t have to rely on others for everything. Now, if I break a bone, get in an accident, get cancer, have a heart attack, or need surgery, etc. I am very thankful for insurance and doctors in these cases!

I love being able to give this freedom to other families by teaching them the things I’ve learned!

A Disturbing Healthcare Trend

I’ve recently have seen turn where doctors are losing the ability to treat their patients the way they want to. Insurance is ruining it for us!

I have a close friend who is a Nurse Practitioner, and she stopped taking insurance because the insurance companies, in a sense, were telling her how to treat her patients.

They also limit her. She wanted to spend an hour or more with clients to really understand what was going on. As someone who also sits and listens to complicated cases. It can take a ½ an hour to hear someone’s health history. And that is AFTER they spent over ½ an hour filling out my health history form. Then, there needs to be time to discuss how to help your client who is sitting in front of you. Then, it’s time for client questions! My friend would spend this time with her patients and get paid $25 from the insurance company.

This is why when you go to the doctor, they only have the time to spend 15 min with you! They can’t pay their bills or the nurse’s salary if they are not getting enough from the insurance company! To make things worse for a client to receive certain treatments, she was required by the insurance company to try other things first before trying what she deemed best for HER patient. This was really eye opening for me. When did insurance companies get to tell doctors how to treat their patients or what medication was best for the patient sitting in front of them?

I’m not one to be a conspiracy theorist. This is real life from my friend who treats patients.  Here is an article from a doctor complaining about this. This is where my freedom in my own healthcare comes. I have learned so much about the plants that God has provided us with that can help with the diseases noted in this article. There are also many diet and lifestyle changes that can be made to help these clients. But how can a doctor take the time to tell their patient about all the diet and lifestyle changes that need to be made when they can only spend 15 minutes with a patient? That is NOT enough time!

What’s worse is that now we are “required” to have insurance, so you “feel obligated” to go to a doctor who takes your insurance! Or, financially, since we HAVE to pay for insurance, we can’t afford to go to a doctor who doesn’t take insurance. So, once again, we are limited by insurance to do what we feel is best for our own health! We recently looked into dropping the insurance and just having catastrophic insurance. Apparently, you can’t get that anymore. It has to cover everything. I’d rather just pay out of pocket who I want to go see but can’t. Unless I don’t have insurance at all, I must pay a penalty to the government.

How to Take Charge of Your Own Health

What if we all could just take care of our own health ourselves, though? Lets get back to our roots and learn about the medicine all around us that can help. Let’s get back to clean diets and more movement so we have fewer chronic problems arise. Learn that freedom!

I also understand that having insurance can support people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford it or get routine health screenings. So, I see a place for insurance. I just think it is a hindrance. In my ideal world, we would have insurance to cover routine checkups and “events” such as broken bones, accidents, cancer, etc.

ANYWAY! I’m off my rant! If you would like to have freedom in your own healthcare, come learn about herbs, diet, and lifestyle in my Family Herbalist Course and enjoy the FREEDOM that comes from being able to take care of your own family!
