I use my regular alcohol tinctures as an antiseptic spray. It’s easier than creating something new; I already have it on hand. This article is about topicals but these herbs can be used internally also.
A simple recipe with accessible tinctures is the following.
- 1 Part Echinacea Tincture (13ml)
- 1 Part Yarrow Tincture (13ml)
- 1/4th part Honey (4ml)
- 30ml spray bottle
Mix it all and shake well. The honey can make the formula seem a tad sticky, but that is good as it will help the herbs stick to the wound. It will soften the alcohol sting and has microbial benefits.
Echinacea is an excellent antimicrobial that helps fight infections.
Yarrow is a mild topical pain reliever and antimicrobial that helps stop bleeding.
This simple blend makes a great spray for sore throats from sinus drainage and can soothe strep throat.
Some other items I like to add are Goldenseal leaf and Myrrh Tinctures.
Here’s another Recipe for you for a 30ml Spray Bottle
- Yarrow 30% – 9ml
- Echinacea 30% – 9ml
- Golden Seal 15% – 4.5ml
- Myrrh 15% – 4.5ml
- Honey 10% (or more) 3ml
Did you know I have an Herbalist-On-Call Program?
It can be challenging to take the time to Google “what do I do for this” and even know if it’s a good answer or where you’ll find the items needed. I try to work with things people have at home, but you’ll also get 25% off any herbs required. You’ll also receive recipe cards like this to download and keep for your future home use!
